2006 in brief

it's been a long time since i have posted anything on my blog. i, actually, have not been online much at all lately. this may come as a shock to the people that knew the compu-nerd leonard of the past 10 years. having an active life, accompanied with a girlfriend that dislikes msn messenger as much as i do, is really what keeps me offline. i'm certainly not blaming her. if anything, a thank you is in order.

crazy november weather is what brings me to write this post. so far this month, the west coast has endured extensive power outages, floods, incredible high winds, and now blizzardesque winter conditions. sadly for my parents, they got all 4 right up the ass. during the gusts of wind, half of our barn roof ripped off the barn itself, tearing down the power line and taking out several trees. 2-3 days without power, and now that it's snowing like a motherf*cker out there, our roofless barn is full of snow. thankfully no animals were harmed.

anyway, it's been exactly one year since i moved into my home. where does the time go? it's been a wild year full of emotional ups and downs. i'm still tired of my job, but when they keep on throwing money at you it becomes difficult to leave. i'm now production lead hand/supervisor. unfortunately we've slowed down for the winter season so my hours have been reduced. one day i'll have a 'good' job.

it's been difficult not to be able to see my friends lately. danny boy has been living up in smithers (congrats on the new place, by the way) so in which case i don't see a lot of heidi. evan has a new(esque) job with value village and works a stupid amount of hours, and jenni is in her final year of dentistry at ubc. i've only really seen the rest of my houseboating crew once or twice in the past 6 months and i'm thinking we may have changed pathes. exciting news though, evan and i are taking a road trip to edmonton in january to see billy talent at the rexall centre. to be honest, i could care less to see billy talent - i'm excited for the drive and the hangover on the way home. i really miss all you guys.

tracey and i are doing exceptionally well. it's been 8 short months yet i feel so incredibly comfortable and happy with her. it's been a while since my last long term relationship. i know this hasn't exactly been a long relationship, but it's long for me god damn it. i know that she is the one for me.

the rights are fucking awesome. we begin recording at greenhouse studios on december 11. we're doing 6 songs. our producer says we've got a jet/wolfmother sound, but you can check out our demos at www.myspace.com/therights thankfully our bassist paul let us use his dad's recording studio in august so we could do up a few tracks.

i believe that's all i have for now. i will have some exciting news to post on january 1st. ;)
